About Stacey

Stacey D’Angelo, M.F.A., is a professional director, performer, theatre creator, and educator with more than 25 years of experience in theatre, musical theatre, performance training, and arts education. Her career bridges professional and educational theatre, with a particular focus on actor training, original and devised work, musical theatre, physical performance, and interdisciplinary storytelling.

Stacey holds a B.F.A. in Musical Theatre from Ithaca College and an M.F.A. in Contemporary Performance from Naropa University, bringing together traditional conservatory training with contemporary and experimental performance practices. Her approach to actor training is grounded in Grotowski Physical Acting, Viewpoints, Roy Hart Vocal Technique, Meisner, Laban, Linklater, and more, with an emphasis on the integration of acting, voice, movement, and the whole performer.

Throughout her career, Stacey has directed, devised, created, and produced productions, original works, showcases, tours, and interdisciplinary performances. Her professional directing, performance, and collaborative work has included Phamaly Theatre Company, Metropolitan State University of Denver, Tectonic Theater Project, Town Hall Arts Center, Firehouse Theatre Company, and Naropa University, among others. Her work has been recognized with a True West Award.

A dedicated theatre educator, Stacey has spent nearly two decades teaching and directing college performers at the Community College of Aurora, where she has taught acting, musical theatre, audition technique, voice and dialects, movement, improvisation, script analysis, directing, devising, playwriting, and styles of acting. She currently serves as Dean of Creative Enterprises, continuing her work developing artists, creative programs, and connections between education and the professional arts community.

As a theatre creator, Stacey is passionate about original and devised work, ensemble creation, interdisciplinary storytelling, and elevating the individual voice of the artist. Her work has also explored the intersection of performance, disability, healing, identity, and community, reflecting her longstanding belief in theatre as both a rigorous artistic discipline and a powerful means of human connection.

Stacey remains actively engaged in Colorado's arts community as a director, educator, and advocate and serves on the boards of Phamaly Theatre Company and the Creative Alliance of Downtown Aurora (CADA).

At the heart of her work is a commitment to exceptional training, artistic exploration, and helping performers develop the technique, confidence, individuality, and joy to grow as artists.
